Canterbury City Council has made a late decision to include the Beacon Road fields as a site for housing in its updated Local Plan, now being consulted upon.
Herne Bay councillors Liz Harvey, Dan Watkins and Rachel Carnac have met with local residents to discuss their concerns, as the site has several challenges for a housing scheme (drainage, access and the overlooking of houses). The site also has much potential for an alternative provision, in line with its recent use for sports and recreation. You can read more about the recent Council meeting and public gathering on this topic in the Kent Online article.
